Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using the Tālapatram app, website and service ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you disagree with any part of these terms, you may not use our Service.

Description of Service

Tālapatram is an Indic Learning Platform for Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS). The Service includes:

• Series and Daily Scroll: Short video stories from history, scripture and living traditions, released in episodes
• Gurukul: Structured courses and ebooks with lessons and quizzes across scriptures, history, strategy and living traditions
• Yogi AI: A conversational AI guide for questions and learning, with saved chat sessions
• Games: Daily and practice games, including Know Your Country, Parva, Agni Pariksha, Smarana and Sanskrit Path
• Comments: Members can comment on scrolls
• Karma: Points you earn by learning, which count toward streaks and leaderboards and can be spent on in-app extras such as extra game rounds. Karma has no cash value and cannot be sold or transferred.
• The Tapasvi membership and passes described below

Membership, Passes, Billing, and Auto-Renewal

Tālapatram has one paid membership, Tapasvi, which unlocks Series, ebooks, Yogi and Games in full. You can get it in two ways:

• Tapasvi monthly membership (auto-renewing): ₹299 per month in India and US$4.99 per month elsewhere, or the equivalent price in your local currency shown on the purchase screen. A coupon may lower the monthly price.
• Passes (one-time): Full access for a fixed period, such as 1 day or 7 days, for a single payment. The length and price are shown on the purchase screen. A pass never renews and sets up no autopay. Buying a pass while one is running extends it.

• Auto-renewal: The monthly membership renews automatically each month unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before the period ends.
• How you pay: On iPhone and iPad, through your Apple Account. On Android and the web in India, through PhonePe; the monthly membership uses a UPI Autopay mandate that you approve when you subscribe. On Android and the web outside India, through Razorpay.
• Cancelling: You can cancel anytime, with no fee. If you pay through Apple, go to Settings > your name > Subscriptions. If you pay through PhonePe or Razorpay, go to Profile > Manage Account > Cancel Subscription in the app; this stops future renewals. If you subscribed through Google Play, cancel in the Play Store under Subscriptions. You keep access until the end of the period you paid for.
• Refunds: Purchases through Apple follow Apple's refund policy. Purchases through PhonePe or Razorpay follow our Refund Policy.

By purchasing, you agree to these Terms of Use (EULA) and to our Privacy Policy.

User Eligibility

• You must be at least 13 years old to use this App
• If you are under 18, you must have parental/guardian consent
• You represent that all information you provide is accurate

Acceptable Use

You May:

• ✅ Use the App for personal, educational, and non-commercial purposes
• ✅ Ask questions about Indian Knowledge Systems
• ✅ Share insights gained from the App (with attribution)
• ✅ Provide feedback to improve the service

You May Not:

• ❌ Use the App for illegal or harmful purposes
• ❌ Attempt to reverse engineer, hack, or compromise the App
• ❌ Submit malicious code, viruses, or harmful content
• ❌ Use the App to harass, abuse, or harm others
• ❌ Impersonate others or provide false information
• ❌ Extract data through automated means (scraping, bots)
• ❌ Use the App to generate spam or misleading content
• ❌ Violate intellectual property rights
• ❌ Overload our servers with excessive requests
• ❌ Post comments that are abusive, hateful, sexually explicit or spam, or that share someone's personal information

Content and Intellectual Property

AI-Generated Content

• Responses are generated by AI and may not always be accurate
• Content is for educational purposes and should not replace professional advice
• We do not claim ownership of questions you ask
• AI responses are provided "as-is" without guarantees of accuracy

App Content

• The App's code, design, and branding are protected by copyright
• "Tālapatram" name and logo are our trademarks
• You may not copy, modify, or distribute the App without permission

User Content

• You keep ownership of your Yogi questions and your comments
• You give us a licence to store, process and display them to provide the Service. Comments are shown publicly to other users.
• You are responsible for what you post
• Comments are checked by an automatic moderator. We may hide or remove any comment, and stop anyone from commenting, at our discretion.
• You can delete your own comments at any time

Disclaimers and Limitations

No Professional Advice

Accuracy Disclaimer

• AI responses may contain errors or inaccuracies
• Information is sourced from general knowledge, not verified scholarly sources
• We do not guarantee completeness or accuracy of responses
• Cross-reference important information with authoritative sources

Service Availability

• We strive for 99% uptime but do not guarantee uninterrupted service
• The App may be unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or technical issues
• We reserve the right to modify or discontinue features

Limitation of Liability

Privacy and Data

Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy. Key points:

• Your account and progress are stored on our servers in India (Mumbai)
• Yogi questions are answered by AI providers (Google Gemini, with Groq as a backup)
• We do not sell your data
• You can delete any chat, or your whole account, in the app

Third-Party Services

The App uses third-party services:

• AI providers (Google Gemini, Groq) power Yogi
• Payment providers (Apple, PhonePe, Razorpay) process payments
• Analytics and crash reporting services help us improve the app; our Privacy Policy lists them
• We are not responsible for third-party service availability or policies

Changes to Service

We reserve the right to:

• Modify or discontinue features
• Update AI models and response behavior
• Change prices, with notice to existing members before a new price applies to their renewal
• Suspend or terminate service at our discretion

We will notify users of material changes via the App or email.

Termination

By You

• You may stop using the App at any time
• Delete your account in the app under Profile > Manage Account > Delete account. Deleting the app alone does not delete your account or cancel a membership.

By Us

We may suspend or terminate your access if you:

• Violate these Terms
• Abuse the service or harm other users
• Engage in illegal activities
• Compromise security or integrity of the App

Dispute Resolution

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict of law provisions.

Informal Resolution

Before filing a claim, please contact us at support@talapatram.ai to resolve disputes informally.

Arbitration

Any disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration rather than in court, except where prohibited by law.

Class Action Waiver

You agree to resolve disputes individually, not as part of a class or collective action.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Tālapatram, its developers, and affiliates from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from:

• Your use of the App
• Your violation of these Terms
• Your violation of any rights of third parties

Feedback and Contributions

If you provide feedback, suggestions, or ideas:

• We may use them without compensation or attribution
• You grant us a perpetual, royalty-free license to implement suggestions
• Feedback does not create any confidential relationship

Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in effect.

Entire Agreement

These Terms, along with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Tālapatram.

Acknowledgment

By using Tālapatram, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service.
