Talapatram ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how our website and service ("Service") collects, uses, and safeguards your information.

Information We Collect

• Chat Messages: The questions and conversations you have with the AskYogi AI assistant
• Usage Data: Information about how you interact with the App

Automatically Collected Information

• Device Information: Device model, operating system version, unique device identifiers
• Log Data: App crashes, system activity, and diagnostic information
• Network Information: Internet connection type and status

How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information for:

1. Providing Service: Processing your chat requests and generating AI responses
2. Improving Experience: Analyzing usage patterns to enhance the App
3. Technical Support: Diagnosing and fixing technical issues

Data Storage

Local Storage

• Chat history is stored locally on your device using encrypted storage
• You can clear your chat history at any time from the App settings
• Data remains on your device and is not automatically synced to cloud servers

Server Processing

• Messages are sent to our servers only to generate AI responses
• Messages are processed in real-time and are not stored permanently
• Server logs may retain anonymous usage statistics for up to 30 days

Where your data lives

Account data, lesson progress, certificates, and program enrollment records are stored in Firebase asia-south1 (Mumbai, India). Your primary data does not leave India.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

Groq API

• Powers the AI chat functionality
• Processes your messages to generate responses

Analytics (if enabled)

• We may use analytics services to understand app usage
• Data is anonymized and cannot identify individual users

Google reCAPTCHA Enterprise

This site is protected by reCAPTCHA Enterprise and the Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply. reCAPTCHA Enterprise is used to protect our authentication flows from abuse and fraud.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties.

We may share information only in these circumstances:

• With your consent: When you explicitly authorize sharing
• Legal requirements: When required by law or to protect our rights
• Service providers: With trusted partners who help us operate the App (under strict confidentiality agreements)

Children's Privacy

Talapatram is generally intended for users aged 13 and above. We follow the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (India), which classifies all individuals under 18 as "children" and requires parental consent for processing their personal data. Our practical approach is:

Users under 13

Direct self-signup is not available. Parents may, however, enroll children under 13 through a partner program (such as our Schools Outreach Summer Reading Club). In these cases:

• The account belongs to the parent, not the child.
• The parent provides consent during sign-up using their own email and phone number.
• We collect only the child's first name, class, and lesson progress. We do not collect full name, photo, address, date of birth, or contact details from the child.

Users 13 to 17

Direct accounts are available. By creating an account, the user confirms that they are 13 or above and, if under 18, that a parent or guardian permits them to use Talapatram. Parents and guardians of users in this age range are responsible for supervising their child's use of the platform.

What we don't do for any user under 18

• We do not show advertising in the app.
• We do not profile or behaviorally track users for advertising purposes.
• We do not show advertising or run ad-targeted profiling. Talapatram has paid plans (such as Sadhak and Tapasvi) marketed to adult users, and the app contains product CTAs for these plans. Children may see these CTAs while using a parent's account, but only the parent can transact. The program courses gifted to children are fully free; no payment is ever required to complete them.

Right to access, correct, or delete

A parent or guardian may, on behalf of a user under 18, request data access, correction, or deletion at any time by emailing privacy@talapatram.ai or, for school-program enrollments, schools@talapatram.ai. We honor erasure within 15 days. If you believe a child is using Talapatram without appropriate parental supervision, please contact us immediately.

Compliance evolution

DPDP Rules have not yet been fully notified by the Government of India. We will update this section to align with formal Rules as they take effect.

School partnerships and programs

Talapatram operates partnership programs with schools, such as the Summer Reading Club. The following terms apply specifically to those programs.

Parent-managed accounts

Parents enroll children via a unique URL provided by the partner school. Each enrollment is opt-in. The school never handles student data through Talapatram.

What we collect during a program

• From the parent: email and phone number, used for sign-up verification and program communications.
• About the child: first name, class, and lesson progress. Used to personalize the certificate and measure program completion.
• School attribution: the school's slug from the unique URL. Used to co-brand the completion certificate and to share an aggregate completer list (first names + classes only) with the school's Principal at the end of the program.

What we do not do during a program

• We do not show advertising to participants.
• The program course is gifted free. No payment is required to complete it. Only the parent's account can transact for any other Talapatram offering, and we do not target marketing at children.
• We do not share individual child data with the partner school. Only the aggregate completer list (first names + classes) is shared, and only with the Principal who endorsed the program.
• We do not profile children or use their data for any purpose other than program operation.

Right to withdraw

The parent may withdraw the child from a program at any time. Data deletion is honored within 15 days of request. Email schools@talapatram.ai for withdrawals or queries about a specific program.

Data Retention

• Chat History: Stored locally until you delete it
• Server Logs: Retained for up to 30 days for technical purposes
• Account Data: Retained while your account is active

International Data Transfers

Your information may be processed in countries other than your own. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for such transfers.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will:

• Notify you of significant changes via the App
• Update the "Last Updated" date
• Continue to protect your data under updated terms

Compliance

This Privacy Policy works towards compliance with:

• Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (India)
• General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
• California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA)

We are an early-stage Indian company and this policy is maintained in good faith by our team. It has not yet been formally reviewed by external counsel; we will engage counsel and update this policy as we scale and as DPDP Rules are notified by the Government of India.
